Research Opportunities (last changed 02 Jan 2010)

Graduate Student Positions

funded positions are available for research in

Non-dipole inner-shell excitation spectroscopy of molecules

Postdoctoral and other positions (last changed 02 Jan 2010)

There is a Research Associate position (2-years) with the CLS spectromicroscopy facility, to maintain, operate and do science with the STXM in collaboration with members of the CLS spectromicroscopy beam team.
The position is advertised on the CLS careers web site (job #583) and open until the position is filled. See full description for more details.

In early spring 2010 I expect to obtain funding for a postdoctoral fellow dedicated to research with STXM on hydrogen fuel cells. This research is in collaboration with the Automotive Fuel Cell Cooperation (AFCC), a collaboration of Ford, Daimler and Ballard power devoted to making hydrogen fuel cells praactical and cost effective in the next 5 years. So far we have shown that STXM is a useful tool to help understand hydrogen fuel cell failure mechanisms. The postdoc working on this project will continue these studies and also develop a humid cell as a means to characterize porosity under controlled levels of liquid and vapor water and to help optimize the nanostructure for improved performance. If you want to help develop more environmentally friendly transportation technology this is an ideal, applied project.
